When I first opened this box of goodies from Charming Charlie, my first thought was “this stuff is so cute but I don’t know if I can pull it off.” Which is SO annoying because I hate when other people say that! I call people out on this all the time – you can pull off anything if you like it and you wear it with confidence!

I put the off the shoulder top on and said the same thing – “I can’t pull this off, it’s too close to my skin tone” but thankfully I kept it on anyway. Mostly out of laziness, but also because I really wanted to make it work. I added the choker and earrings they sent over and headed out for the day. Weirdly enough, I wore this on my birthday. Who wears an outfit they don’t know if they like on their birthday? Me apparently.

I took some of my own tips from this post about Rocking Clothes Outside Your Comfort Zone and went with it! My trusty (ridiculously) distressed denim put some edge back into this look since the top is really sweet and feminine. By doubling down on the edge and really going all out, the look instantly felt more like me than it did with a pair of regular denim.

I ended up getting compliments on this look all day – and I felt great! The top was really comfortable even though I don’t have a ton of experience with off the shoulder shirts. I’ve shopped at Charming Charlie plenty of times before, but never for clothes…I feel like I was really missing out! So much so that I already ordered two other tops from them (keep your eyes peeled for those in next week’s Mail Monday post!)

What’s everyone doing this weekend? I have a really packed day tomorrow – a (free to all ladies) Kaia workout in the morning, a baby shower for my dear friend Sevi and then I’m seeing Tom Petty live! I’m sure I’ll be pooped on Sunday so I plan on spending the day with my laptop getting some work done and binge watching Netflix.

This weekend, I challenge you to wear something a little outside your comfort zone and then report back to me, either here or on social media! Let me know how it goes.

xoxo

  1. I didn’t even realize Charming Charlie sold clothes! I remember getting accessories there plenty of times, but now I feel like I might need to check out clothes from there too! I love the way you styled this top and made it “you” by adding the ripped black denim. You look fabulous!
