CC_Floral_H9Happy Fourth of July, friends! If you’re celebrating today – have fun and be safe! I’m celebrating in bed, to be honest. I got a massage yesterday morning and for real it made me feel TERRIBLE. Apparently that happens to people and she had to work a LOT of stuff out so I’m not too shocked….also I’m dumb and didn’t drink a lot of water yesterday. Come on, Valery!

Anyway, the first Monday of the month means it’s small goals day! Per usual, I’m linking up with Nicole at Writes Like a Girl, so don’t forget to head over and check out all the other small goals posts. Now it’s time to review last month’s goals!

  1. Read 1 book – Womp womppppp no. I did great with this at the beginning of the month but then let it slide. I’ve been reading Gone Girl and, even though I’ve already seen the movie, the book is still fab. Just gotta finish it…
  2. Bathroom mini redo – DONE! Y’all I’m so excited about this. I don’t want to give away too much, because I’m going to do a separate post, but I spent a little over $30 and made some huge changes!
  3. Clean up and organize my vanity – Check! Granted, it gets messy basically every single day when I do my makeup but I’m love love loving my new vanity. I’ll do a post about this too!
  4. Complete a photography course – Did it! I still have a long way to go but I’m already feeling more confident in my photography skills, which I’m so happy about. I think later this summer I’m going to take senior photos for my little sister (how is she already a senior?!)
  5. Propagate, care for and rehome my succulents – Donezo! Well, sort of. I propagated them all, but they’re still growing so I can’t rehome them just yet.

4 out of 5 – that might be my best ever month! Now onto July goals!

  1. Record 2 YouTube videos – It’s been a WHILE since I’ve recorded a YouTube video, I’ve got a few reviews planned though! Just have to get used to being in front of the camera again.
  2. Grow Instagram to 3500 – Instagram has been a big struggle for me lately, so I’d like to grow my account substantially this month. If you pros have any tips for me, definitely let me know!
  3. Get back to blogging 3x per week – I was really consistent for a while, but lately my routine has become nonexistent. Looking forward to putting more content out again.
  4. Send out 3 newsletters – My newsletter is pretty large and it’s people who WANT to read my content. It’s so crazy that I rarely send them out!
  5. Keep my nails looking fresh all month – This is totally a vanity thing but having nice looking nails makes me feel confident…it’s the little things!

Clearly this month is mostly about putting my focus back on blogging and social media. The last month or so has been really crazy and I’ve kind of let my passion fall by the wayside and I really want to dive back in headfirst.

What are you working on this month? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I cleaned my vanity/bathroom counter tonight and I’m feeling so zen now! Also get those nails on the gram! I bet you could totally get a regram from someone like Essie, which might help with your goal! I think tagging specific brands has helped me some? Like using their brand-specific hashtags and tagging them in the actual photo increases the chances they’ll repost my photo. I also don’t know if you use Dallas-specific hashtags, but the ATX ones tend to work well for me!

Congrats on 4/5 goals! So excited to see your home renos!!

    1. Thank you thank you for all the tips! I use some Dallas specific hashtags but I think my tags could use a revamp. It’s been a while since I’ve updated my list and I’m sure there are some better ones out there I can use!

Isn’t it crazy what a big difference cleaning up one little countertop makes? I always feel SO much better. Then if I light a candle….oooohhhweeeeee. Zen mode for sure.

  2. I was totally thinking about keeping my nails up as one of my goals too, but decided against it because even 4 days into the month, I had let my nails look like a mess. Good luck with yours though!

    1. lolol I totally understand that battle. I use Jamberry so I only have to do them once every week or two, which makes it WAY easier. I’m terrible at polish so I tend to avoid it!

  3. Good job with completing 4/5 goals! 🙂 I only got 2/5 done. Great goals for July! What photography course did you take? I got a DSLR in May and I want to take a class because I feel like I’m not using it to its full potential. I was considering taking one at a camera shop around me. I’m excited to see your vanity! I have one in my room, but I don’t use it to get ready because my room has terrible lighting. Hopefully in the future I can use it for its true purpose!

    1. Thank you so much – this was definitely my strongest month by far. I took this online blogging course from a Dallas photographer, Megan Weaver. http://www.megan-weaver.com/bsb/ I really liked it but it’s definitely for beginners. I learned a lot and there were a few tips and tricks that I NEVER would’ve been able to figure out myself. If you want to message me and get more details about whether it’d be right for you I would be happy to talk to you about it! I know the frustration of having a nice DSLR and feeling like you’re not using it to it’s full potential!

    1. Thank you!!!! I’m going to do it. I sent one out last week and before that it had been MONTHS since my previous one. Embarrassing.

  4. These are great goals and a great idea! Great job getting things done! For me being more consistent with writing, scheduling and posting blog posts is high on my list. Still working on what else I want to get done this month! xoxo

    1. Thank you Rose! Consistency has been a big struggle for me the last month or two so I can totally relate to that one!
