Hello my darlings! First thing’s first – you’re probably wondering who those lovely ladies are up top! Today I am co-hosting a fabulous linkup with Jacqueline from Stylin’ in St Louis and Larissa from Living in Color. Definitely make sure to check out their posts and scroll to the bottom of this post to browse some other amazing outfits.
I know it’s been a tad quiet around here lately but I promise it has NOT been quiet behind the scenes. I’ve been running around like a crazy person putting systems into place to make this the best year yet for this little ol’ fashion and beauty blog. New/more relevant content, more videos (finally), a regular post schedule, guest posts, NEWSLETTERS…all that good stuff. If you miss me (and I mean, how could you not? jkjk), I’ve still been pretty active on Instagram. I’ve even started doing some mini product reviews on Instagram stories! They expire after 24 hours though so make sure to check my profile frequently!
Y’all I’ve been waiting a WHILE to share this coat with you! I actually bought this gorgeous floral trench coat when I took my mom shopping for Mother’s Day (because of course I had to buy something for myself). In my defense, it caught my eye on the clearance rack at Kohl’s and my mom and I both practically gasped! I looked at the tag….it was less than $20 and when I saw it was my size too, I knew it was fate. This girl cannot pass up a deal like that.
Now y’all know lately I have NOT been all about color. So I was a little nervous to put this floral trench coat on – I mean come on, my hair is bright blue and this coat has like three shades of blue in it. So when it came time to style this coat, I knew the simpler the better. A black bodysuit, jeans and black OTK boots. I probably could’ve gotten away with black jeans and booties but my black jeans weren’t clean so I had to make do! Just keeping it real.
Even if you love color, the easiest way to style a floral trench coat (or really any large statement piece) is to keep everything else simple. Even the accessories – notice how the only jewelry I’m wearing is a very dainty necklace and a choker. I let the coat do all the talking.
I’m not against making a statement, as evidenced by this outfit, but if we’re talking about ease…keep it simple. For other patterned looks – check out some of the posts below! If you’re a blogger, we’d love for you to link up!
