Styling a crew neck sweatshirt is no easy feat, y’all. I love them, but sweatshirt outfits can feel a little frumpy and I’m not about that life (at least not outside my house). Originally I wanted to pair this feminist sweatshirt with a skirt but it just didn’t work with my look so I shifted gears a bit and decided to go preppy.
Well, I mean, preppy for me. Layering a collared shirt always makes me feel preppy, and doing it under a sweatshirt gave me allllll of the collegiate preppy vibes. The thirteen.02 watch contributed to those vibes too, and I’m not mad about it.
I glanced through my collared shirts and decided on a short sleeve chambray shirt – when it’s colder I’ll opt for long sleeves, but it wasn’t very cool today. Skinny jeans and heeled booties rounded out the look. Since I wanted the focus to be on the collar, I thought a top bun would be my best bet for hair (and I was right!) Having my hair down probably would’ve made my shoulders and neck look heavy and you would’ve missed out on the adorable enamel pin I’m wearing.
Shameless plug: This sweatshirt was designed by me and is for sale in the Everyday Unicorns shop. Black Friday is coming up…HINT HINT! Join the email list to get Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale reminders in your inbox because let’s be honest, you’re going to forget.
Obviously I’m not much of a preppy gal, so I threw in a few more edgy pieces to change up the look so I still felt like myself. Instead of normal jeans, I chose a pair of black skinnies with holes in the knees and frayed hems. I also opted for a very unexpected green lip – if you missed it on my Instagram stories, I’ll let you in on a little secret….this lipstick is $5. And it’s LIFE changing, y’all – Wet N Wild Siren’s Jewel from the Midnight Mermaid Collection! It goes on SO smooth and looks very expensive. (It does bleed a tad, so keep a mirror handy!)
And that’s it! A cute sweatshirt outfit that’s SO easy to recreate and change up to fit your personal style.
