Bodysuit: Target ($11.48 on sale! Juniors sizing, I’m wearing a large) | Skirt: Charlotte Russe (old, similar on clearance here) | Shoes: Shoe Dazzle ($39.95 available here) | Sunglasses: Sam Edelman at Marshall’s ($10!)
I know most people love summer but y’all….summer has never been my season. I mean yeah as a kid I loved being out of school, but other than that it’s just not my jam. I’m SUPER fair so hanging out by the pool isn’t fun for me (I’ve literally never been tan in my entire life), I don’t like most summer clothes and let’s not even start on the hot weather. It’s just not for me.
That being said – I’ve finally found a summer uniform that I really love! My (not so secret) formula is a bodysuit + comfy midi skirt + whatever shoe I feel like wearing. Super complicated, guys, I know!
If you haven’t ventured into bodysuit territory, I would really encourage you to try to find one that you love. I don’t always love how I look in a bodysuit and jeans – I think I need to get some high waisted jeans to feel super comfortable. Also sometimes they give you (or me) HARDCORE pantylines, which is annoying. But a bodysuit and midi skirt….that’s a whole different story! I love that bodysuits don’t come untucked or get lumpy like literally every other shirt I wear that I try to tuck into something. And pairing a bodysuit with a skirt means you can wear the skirt right at your natural waist, which is always a flattering combo.
Note: I always hesitate to write about things that are “flattering” because I’m a firm believer in “wear whatever you feel like wearing and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.” Buuuuut I know a lot of people feel more comfortable in something that is traditionally “flattering,” which is why I include it occasionally. But please, wear whatever makes you feel awesome.
For this look, I threw on my new Shoe Dazzle heels (available here) – I love how the olive color compliments the bronze in the skirt and almost gives the bottom half a monochromatic feel. It definitely makes the skirt pull more olive, which I love.
So grab yourself some bodysuits (neutral colors are great because they’ll match everything), and a few midi skirts and mix and match your way through summer! Wear whatever shoes you feel comfortable in – midi skirts look great with booties, sandals, heels, flats and even sneakers! The possibilities are endless and I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of these looks from me over the next few months.
