I was terrified to get this dress because I’ve never had the best luck with slip dresses or drop waisted dresses…much less together. Now you guys already know I don’t really buy into only wearing things that are “flattering” but in the past, literally every drop waist dress I’ve tried was too small for my hips lol. Since I’m pear shaped, usually if they fit my hips they’re WAY too big up top. That being said, this one was on sale so I decided to go out on a limb….and it fits! It has adjustable straps, which is REALLY helpful with slip dresses, especially if they’re drop waist.

I love that this slip dress has a few extra details that make it special but a relatively simple little black dress like this is just *asking* for more personality and style to be infused into it. Obviously I wanted to make this dress a little more edgy, so I paired it with my new snakeskin booties from ShoeDazzle (I’ve had snakeskin booties on my “to buy” list for over a YEAR!)

It was a little chilly, so I needed to throw on a jacket as well – a black denim jacket is a fun alternative to a regular jean jacket if you’re looking for something a little unexpected. I love the fit on this one, it’s an “ex boyfriend” style jacket so it’s super comfy and roomy, but also not too trendy. It’s not cheap, but Levi’s is a great brand and I know this jacket will last for years and years.

Since y’all know I’m extra, I had to add just a liiiiiittle more personality to this look so I threw on a few enamel pins from Baublesaurus. Y’all, their pins are SO cute and hilarious. I mean come on, one of my pins is unicorn poop lol! Enamel pins also make great, affordable gifts because you can tailor them to fit the person you’re buying it for and they’re really budget friendly! Also everyone has a jacket or a shirt (or even a backpack) they can throw a pin onto! I would recommend grabbing a few pins to knock out some holiday shopping. You can thank me later.

xoxo
