Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style.
Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.
It’s seriously my favorite time of the month! Okay, so I know today is actually June 1 buuuuut we took these photos in May so it counts….IT COUNTS. Don’t forget to check out posts from Stephanie, Sevi and Denise this month – they’re great (per usual). Also, thank you sooo much to Holden Hostetler for taking our group photos and Stephanie Drenka for individual shots and editing talents <3
I feel like I could easily make this post look like it’s all sunshine and butterflies (and trust me, being around these ladies WAS sunshine and butterflies) but y’all….this day was tough for me!
This past weekend, I had the honor of being the florist for my OLDEST friend. (Click here for a sneak peek!) We’ve known each other since before we were in school…a 21 year friendship. I kind of can’t believe it! The wedding was in the Tulsa area so I picked up the flowers from my wholesaler here in Dallas early Friday morning, then drove to Tulsa. Saturday I woke up and arranged the flowers (and ran around town hunting down a few last minute things I needed). Sunday was full of wedding festivities and getting everything set up – 17K steps later and I was BEAT. Monday morning I woke up and drove back to Dallas. Got into town and immediately started working (I work from home, thank goodness). A few hours later, I worked from the car while my husband drove me over to Stephanie’s and I took my lunch break to get these shots in. Then that night after my shift ended at 9pm, I had to go pick up my dogs from my parents house – another two hours in the car. So yeah, long day!
When I arrived at Stephanie’s, everything was ADORABLE and the other three ladies brought my spirits up right away. It’s amazing how just seeing some awesome folks can bring you up, even when you’re absolutely exhausted and still have a long day ahead of you. Even though it was brief, I’m so thankful I got to have a quick little thirty minute party with these beauties!
Since we were hanging out by the pool, I kept it simple with my hair and opted for pigtail buns a-la Miley Cyrus. They’re kind of goofy but I think they’re perfect for summer since they keep my hair out of my face. I’m not a huge fan of typical swim cover ups, which is why I looooooooove this romper I picked up at Target. It was under $25 and I really think I’m going to be living in it this summer. Finding rompers that fit my curvy figure isn’t easy and this one totally fits the bill PLUS the bottom is lined, which is amazing- gotta keep that visible panty line at bay! OH and did I mention it’s actually a decent length? I can bend over without worrying about my booty showing!
I kept everything else neutral because that’s just what I’m into right now. Black sunnies, sandals and a cute beach bag is really all you need for a pool party or day at the beach. I did add a neon Bauble Bar necklace I bought a few years ago just to bring a bit of color into the look, the cord always reminds me of those neon knotted bracelets that were so popular in the 90s…you know, the ones you could get at Putt Putt? Anyone?
One last friendly reminder to check out posts from the other Diversity Chic babes!
What are you wearing to the pool this summer? If you don’t have a cover up, save your money and just grab a cute romper, oversized button down shirt or dress you already have in your closet!
