Y’all I’m going to tell the truth….these last few weeks have been TOUGH. I know a lot of you are probably in the same boat. If you follow me on social media, you’ve seen my thoughts and feelings so I’m not even going to go into them here. Instead, I’m going to make today’s post more productive. It felt weird just writing a “business as usual” post with an outfit or makeup tutorial – but I’m not a political blog (and honestly, I would hate to blog about politics anyway) so I’ve done a lot of time thinking, “How can I contribute to the conversation and be true to who I am, but still provide you guys with helpful content?”

SO here we are with today’s post. If you’re anything like me, you buy a lot of stuff on Amazon. I mean a lot. Once my husband and I became Amazon Prime members, it was game over – I mean, how can you say no to free 2 day shipping?! I heard about Amazon Smile a while back and then completely forgot about it. If you’re unfamiliar with the program, basically when you make an Amazon purchase, if you’re signed up for Amazon Smile, a small percentage of your purchase goes back to the charity of your choice. You don’t pay anything extra! All you have to do is make sure you go to and buy like you normally would.

As soon as I decided to sign up, I felt suuuuper overwhelmed by which charity to choose. ACLU was my first idea, but they’ve received an (awesomely) insane amount of donations lately and I wanted to go for something with a little less financial support. Same with Planned Parenthood. My friend Denise suggested I check Charity Navigator, so I did! I clicked on their list of charities with perfect scores and found something that was a good choice for me, Equal Justice Initiative. You can check out their charity score here. Straight from the EJI website:

The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.

Yep, count me in. Once I chose my charity, I logged in to and searched for Equal Justice Initiative – easy! I didn’t take a screenshot but when you log in for the first time there’s a popup that asks you to choose your charity, you can’t miss it. Now when I go to shop Amazon, I head to and the header on my account looks like this.

I love knowing that I can do the shopping I would normally do, while still supporting a cause that’s important to me. Pick something that’s close to your heart and sign up for Amazon Smile! Your dollars can go a long way in helping others and it’s a small way to make a difference on purchases you would make anyway.

  • Are you signed up for Amazon Smile?
  • What are some other ways you make a difference with your shopping?
