Happy Tuesday, everyone! We’ve officially survived Monday. Also, that means it’s time for Two Way Tuesday! If you missed last week, I dished on my current favorite shirt – check it out here.
Today’s installment of Two Way Tuesday features a white polka dot skirt that’s kind of between a midi and a maxi length. Today’s going to be a little different though…I’m going to show you an outfit gone wrong. I am kind of embarrassed about this one, but I wanted to help keep you guys from making the same mistake as me!
I wore this outfit to the Bellacure’s grand opening. I chose it because it’s easy and summery, this was in the hottest part of the summer. Unfortunately it didn’t really turn out as planned but I didn’t realize it until I saw pictures later! Eek!!!
I paired the skirt with a simple grey t, pendant necklace and silver oxfords. I wanted to keep it relatively simple but still looked pulled together. The bad news is….the shoes did NOT work with this skirt length! Because it only hits a few inches above my ankles, the oxfords gave me hardcore cankles…oops! Also, this picture was after my massage so I had taken off my necklace and forgot to put it back on.
T shirt: Target ($10) | Skirt: Poppy and Dot ($15) | Shoes: Target ($8)
I think I totally nailed this second outfit! Unfortunately I was having a ROUGH hair day so I only got one decent outfit picture out of the deal.
This outfit was kind of a transition to fall, it was still pretty toasty but the mustard blazer was at least a nod to the two weeks of fall weather we will have eventually. I wore a black lace crop tank that I’ve had FOREVER with a mustard blazer and black lace up heels. I really like the contrast of texture between the tank top (which is a really rough, big lace) and the airy chiffon of the skirt. Topped the look off with a black and white statement necklace and I was good to go. It’s amazing how the right accessories can make an outfit look so pulled together (contrast this with the above picture where I’m not wearing any accessories).
Top: Target ($4) | Blazer: Purchased secondhand, originally H&M ($15) | Skirt: Poppy and Dot ($15) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe ($20) | Necklace: Joann’s (yes, the fabric store; $3)
Lessons learned here:
1. Only wear oxfords with skirts that are a little shorter (or pants or shorts, obviously)
2. Accessories make a HUGE difference on looking pulled together! They’re the easiest way to dress up your outfit.
