It seems like a LIFETIME ago, but earlier this month the company I work for (SoloShoe Communications) sponsored an event for one of our clients in College Station, MSC OPAS, an organization at Texas A&M University that presents professional productions of theatre, music and dance programs.

When I found out that Bryan Batt (aka Sal from Mad Men) would be bringing his cabaret show as part of MSC OPAS’s 42nd season, I almost lost my mind. Mad Men is one of my all-time favorite shows AND Sal is one of the absolute best characters on the show. If you’re not a Mad Men watcher, you may recognize him from Jeffrey, 12 Years a Slave or one of the million Broadway shows he has been in. This guy is crazy talented.

The urban-chic Downtown 202 (one of my favorite spaces in the Bryan/College Station area) hosted the cabaret and it was the absolute perfect venue – exposed brick walls, concrete floors and elaborate chandeliers…these are a few of my favorite things. Bryan’s show was spectacular – he was funny, charming and had the voice to back it all up. He performed Cole Porter originals, Broadway classics, and even threw in a tune from Gilda Radner’s one-woman show, “Let’s Talk Dirty to the Animals,” (which was his first Broadway show).

After the show, Bryan spent tons of times chatting with fans and taking photos. He was so incredibly kind and humble…and even spilled a few secrets about costarring with my boss’s all-time favorite, Elaine Stritch!

If you ever get the chance to go see Bryan Batt, don’t hesitate to go. Whether you’re a Mad Men fan, enjoy cabaret or just like to be entertained, you won’t be disappointed. And here’s Bryan Batt and I doing a prom pose, per his request. <3

Literally one of the best nights of my life.
